I'm happy to be back with card #2 of the Nancy Drew Mysteries, The Hidden Staircase. For more info see this post.
As I was reading the book I kept picturing this house from the stamp set French Countryside. I mentioned in a previous post that I've been doing some major cleaning in Studio 1.15...well, I found French Countryside in the "to go" box! Yeah, no! I rescued it and made this card. This is my vision of Twin Elms the estate where Nancy and her friend, Helen, are trying to solve the mystery. I stamped it on Basic Beige with Secret Sea ink and cut it out with a Textured Notes die. I added that strip of crocheted trim and the sentiment from Charming Duck Pond. I also inked the edges with Basic Beige. I cut a piece of Beautiful Gallery DSP from another Textured Notes die. Everything went on a Secret Sea card base. I finished it off with a few Pressed Flower Motifs. It's highly unlikely that the estate looked anything like this but that's okay! In the crafty world it works!
It's been super fun doing this. I'm now reading book #3 in the series. It makes my crafty heart happy!
Studio 1.15 was tidy but I tackled another area and it's a mess again BUT I made more room on the shelves for stamp sets!!! I hope to rescue a few others from the "to go" box!
Happy Stamping!
Tracy
I love this! I have no memory of the French Countryside stamp set so I had to look it up no eBay :D Love what you did with it, very elegant card! I also love that you're making cards based on things in the books and I tend to take inspiration from the book covers. Thanks again for playing along with me in the Nancy Drew Challenge!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, when I read The Hidden Staircase, I kept imagining the big house from Fresh Prince of Bel Air! Pretty sure that's not what it really looks like either...
LOL! Well, whatever the big house looked like I'm sure it was wonderful! I wanted to do a gorilla face but I just have cute monkey stamps. The Silly Safari may have worked but I don't have it. It would have been cute and not scary, of course!
DeleteLove this....I am a big fan of Nancy Drew--a nod to my childhood reading obsession! I may have to get a couple of those books out of the library. Your cottage is just delightful, especially with my favorite paper behind it!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this DSP, LeAnne! Glad you are a fan of Nancy Drew, too!
