Birthday Smiles

 Thursday, January 19, 2023

Today's card is for the Inky Paws Challenge #189 over at Newton's Nook Designs.

It's a sketch challenge:

I used the Newton's Nook Designs Birthday Party 6 x 6 Paper Pad for all the sweet layers. The furry critters with all the presents is from Sky High Celebrations and I cut it out using the Oval Frames dies, all from NND!

Measure of Love

 Wednesday, January 18, 2023

Today's card features the Heart and Home Memories and More card base. The same one I used yesterday. I made half of them with the What's Cookin' bundle and the other half with the Measure of Love stamp set.

I used the same Stitched So Sweetly dies and just used that cute scale and stamped a bowl of cherries! I colored the scale with  Light Gray Granite and Light Misty Moonlight Blends. The cherries are stamped in Sweet Sorbet.

Here is my sweet measure of love:

She was helping me make the bed! This quilt is the same color combo as my card! LOL! I love red, white and blue and anything Americana!

What's Cookin'

 Tuesday, January 17, 2023

Oh my! I just love this bundle from Stampin' Up!  called What's Cookin'! It's now retired but I just inked it up and love it!

The card bases are called Heart and Home Memories and More. They are in Misty Moonlight which I love! I used Sweet Sorbet and Misty Moonlight cardstock and the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut the scalloped rectangles. I needed some thank you cards for the guys and gals who help with coffee hour at church. I think this work very nicely!

Happier Than Happy

 Monday, January 16, 2023

Happy Monday, my friends! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I guess for some the weekend is long with today being recognized for Martin Luther King.

Today's cards are the ones I made during our power outage after Christmas! 😀 They are for Taylor and Katie's baby shower coming up at the end of the month.

I used the cards from the last Sale-a-bration...was that in August or July??? Anyways, I used a strip of the Happy Forest Friends DSP and then added a stamped animal that I die cut. I love this cute and whimsy bundle. Taylor and Katie have a woodland themed nursery and the baby shower will be woodland themed also.  The stitched tag and the sentiment are from the same bundle. I added a piece of linen thread to the tag.

I decorated the front of a craft gift bag to put them in:

I truly am happier than happy that we will be having another granddaughter! I never thought I'd get one granddaughter and now we will have two! And those two just nine months apart! WoW! Exciting!

Weekly Wanderings

 Sunday, January 15, 2023

My husband and I haven't been wandering lately. I wanted to catch up on what we did do over the holidays beginning with Thanksgiving in November...

We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving week with our children at an Airbnb not far from our home! It was very nice and we hope we are starting a new tradition! Here were a few highlights:

Taylor and Katie made yummy homemade pizza crusts, we all added our favorite toppings and Taylor cooked them in this nifty pizza oven they have! That pizza was so good! We definitely want to have this meal again soon!

This picture sums up the joy of that week:

Christmas ended up being a special bonus with the kids! They weather wasn't good at that time. We had an ice storm. Christmas Day the weather was better and the kids came over for dinner.

There is no better gift than time with our kids!

Two days after Christmas we had a wind storm! We lost our power and were without for two days. We  lose our power often. Over the years, we've lived here 32 years now, we have definitely improved our emergency plan! LOL! We have a small generator that can keep the fridge and freezer going, power a light and heat a hot plate. So, this is the Farmer's system of hooking things up with the power cords:

This drove me nuts besides being a tripping hazard! So, I rearranged things and came up with this:

Much better! LOL! I even crafted during our power outage!  The light from the window and a little flashlight made it doable! I'll do a blog post tomorrow and share the cards I made. They are pretty cute!

52 Christmas Card Throwdown #1

 Thursday, January 11, 2023

My card today is for the sketch challenge over at  52 Christmas Card Countdown 52CCT23-1.

And here is the sketch:

Card Recipe: (all products Stampin' Up!)

  • Crumb Cake card base 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2"
  • 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Country Gingham DSP; adhere to card base
  • 1" x 5-1/2" Glimmer paper; adhere to DSP
  • Stamp sentiment from All Bundled Up in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Sweet Sorbet CS; adhere to Glimmer paper with mini dimensionals
  • Stamp the little bird from All Bundled Up in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White CS; color with Blends in Light and Dark Crumb Cake and Light and Dark Sweet Sorbet; fussy cut out
  • Cut a circle using the Stylish Shapes dies; stamp the musical notes from Sweet Songbird in Craft White ink, adhere to card base with dimensionals; add bird to circle with a dimensional
  • Cut a little circle using the Stylish Shapes dies from Sweet Sorbet DSP; adhere to card with a dimensional

Can I keep up with the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenges this year??? Realistically, no. Watching our granddaughter two days a week and another granddaughter due in February that I'll eventually watch one day a week...time and energy will be limited. But what a blessing it is to have these babies in our life!

Happy Stamping, my friends!

You Matter!

 Tuesday, January 10, 2023

Today's card came together rather quickly.

I was inspired by the color challenge at TGIF Challenge 402.

Using these colors brought back memories of brown and pink! I remember when brown and pink were popular with my crafting friends and myself! Loved it then and I love it now! I love it with the pop of blue too!

Card Recipe:

  • A2 Thick Basic White card base
  • 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Early Espresso cardstock emboss with Gingham EF; adhere Early Espresso ribbon to it and then adhere to card base
  • Using the Two-Tone Flora bundle stamp the larger flower in Balmy Blue and the outline in Early Espresso; cut using the coordinating die; adhere to cardbase with a dimensional.
  • Stamp the smaller flower in Polished Pink and the outline in Early Espresso; cut using the coordinating die; adhere to card base with mini dimensionals.
  • Using the Something Fancy dies cut one from Polished Pink and one from Basic White; stamp the sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set using Early Espresso ink. Adhere tags together and then adhere with dimensionals to card base.
  • Finish the card by adding three Polished Pink Opal Rounds

I stamped the envelope with the same flowers. This is one of those cards I'd like to make several more using a variety of colors!

Speaking of colors we had a few beautiful sunrises recently! Here's one I tried to capture...it isn't quite the same as seeing it in person but it is pretty!

A Pretty Prints Birthday

 Fri-yay! January 6, 2023

Happy New Year!

I thought I'd start the year off with a card for the AAA Birthday Challenge: Game #45 - Anything Goes!

Here's my card:

I let SU!'s Pretty Prints DSP to the majority of the work. Don't we all have oodles of DSP (Designer Series Paper/pretty paper) in our stash?! I know I do! Here's the card recipe:

  • A2 card base in Petal Pink
  • Pretty Prints DSP cut with largest rectangle die; wrapped with ribbon (retired) and adhered to card base
  • Petal Pink CS cut with 4th from the largest rectangle die
  • Basic Black CS cut with 5th from the largest die; adhere to Petal Pink piece
  • Pretty Prints DSP cut with 6th from the largest die; adhere to Basic Black
  • Cut two "fern" pieces from Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper (retired) using the dies from Natural Prints; adhere to DSP
  • Cut the "flower sprig" from Calypso Coral CS uing the  die from Honeybee Home; adhere to DSP
  • Use the smallest banner die from the Stylish Shapes die; stamp sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used a stamp from Itty Bitty-licious from My Pink Stamper (retired).  I added a couple loops of silver thread to the back. Add a dimensional and adhere over stems.
  • Add three pearls to finish the card
For the inside I used a sentiment from Happiness Abounds. I stamped the flower from Honeybee Home in Calypso Coral second generation.

I added another piece of the Pretty Prints DSP to the flap of the envelope.

I made several of these cards using the different colors of paper in the package.
