A Bright Birthday

 Monday, June 6, 2022

Happy Monday, my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was quiet which was just fine with me. I needed some time to rest and regroup.

Of course I spent some time in Studio 1.15! I had an order for some sympathy cards. I took one of the sketches I was using and switched out the colors and made a bright birthday card!

It's brighter in person! The Daffodil Delight card base makes it pop! I hadn't used Daffodil Delight for awhile! Do you do that? Have streaks of using certain colors and neglecting others?! I do!

Card Details:

  • A2 Card base in Daffodil Delight
  • 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White embossed with Ornate Floral EF (retired). Wrap a piece of white ribbon ( I used what was in my stash) around and adhere to card base.
  • 3-3/8 x 4-3/4" Pool Party cut using the Scallop Contour dies
  • 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" Basic White cut using the Stitched Rectangles dies; stamp sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used Peaceful Moments. Adhere to Pool Party.
  • Stamp large and small flowers from Pretty Perennials (retired).Cut using the Perennial Petals dies. Cut a flower outline in Daffodil Delight. Cut a center from Basic Black. Adhere as shown. Stamp center of small flower in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Add a dimensional to the back of each flower.
  • Cut leaves using the Perennial Petals dies from Pear Pizazz. Snip apart and adhere to card base.
  • Adhere flowers. Adhere Pool Party piece to card base with dimensionals. Add a yellow gem from the Glossy Dots Assortment to the center of the large flower.
I hope this card inspires you to create something bright and pretty!

Weekly Wanderings

 Saturday, June 4, 2022

Now that the Farmer is retired we are trying to get out each week and explore a new area or just an old favorite. We are enjoying our "Weekly Wanderings"!

In May we had fun exploring the newly remodeled Salem Public Library and eating at a very popular, but small diner, White's Restaurant, also in Salem. I enjoyed their specialty the Biscuits and Gravy! It's been years since I've ate biscuits and gravy. These did not disappoint. Sadly, I forgot to take pictures that day.

We hiked at the Basket Slough. A place within 30 minutes of our home but Jerry had never been.

We took two different bike rides. One at Champoeg State Park. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed learning a little more about this area. It is on the Willamette River and there is so much history here!

But the most memorable Weekly Wandering in May was our bike ride on the Banks-Vernonia State Trail. We had been on this trail several times but just walking different sections of it, never biking. This day we were going to bike from Banks to Vernonia and back again. It's 20 miles. One way. We haven't biked a whole lot lately. At 10 miles I was thinking it was kind of hard. And it was as the grade was the steepest there and then I thought okay we should be fine...and we were. It took about 3 hours to get to Vernonia which was fine. We stopped. I took photos...

I was definitely ready for a break when we stopped at a park in Vernonia and ate our lunches that we had packed. I was a little concerned about how I would fare going back. Jerry assured me it was all downhill. Five minutes into our lunch break we heard a very loud bang! Scared me to pieces. There were kids playing on the nearby swings and it scared them also! Well, we soon discovered the inner tube in one of my tires had blew up!!! Yipe. Flatter than a pancake. What to do...we had no spare inner tubes on us. No money.
We found no places on Google that did tires in Vernonia and even if they did we didn't have any money, would they trust us to pay them, etc. We soon decided that I would stay at the public library (I love public libraries for many reasons! Just added a new one to my list! LOL!) and Jerry would bike back down to Banks by himself. Oh, and he hadn't brought his phone! I had mine. Yea, it was a whole comedy of things! So, that is what we did. As Jerry said goodbye before he left I looked up and this is what I saw:

I thought, yep, okay, I can trust Jesus with this one. I had too. So, I went into the wonderful little library, found the Anne of Green Gables book that I was reading at the time and sat down for a couple hours and read. Jerry biked back down to Banks in under two hours! Wow! He was flying. He said it was way easier going back. Thankfully he had no problems and my Farmer came and rescued me!

We learned a few things on this trip! It was still a great day and we definitely made some memories! I am quite disappointed I was unable to complete the trip. Now we have to go back and do it again! Except I'm debating...since I rode the one way and by no fault of my own couldn't complete the trip wouldn't it be okay if I just started at Vernonia and biked down to Banks??? Or do I do the whole trip??? I do know I am biking consistently now until I do get back to complete this!!! I want to be in better biking shape!

Happy trails!

A Bundle of Boxes

 Thursday, June 2, 2022

I want to give a big shout out to my friend and upline, Teresa Harper at KnT Designs. She does amazing work and today's projects are her designs!

She and I organized a 2022-2023 SU! Annual Catalog launch party in May.  I wanted to make a treat box that included a cookie, tea bag and, of course, chocolate! I thought I was going to do a pouch...uh, not! That was so not me...not us! So, I gave Teresa the goodies I wanted to include in the box and she went to work and designed this box. You can cut two from one sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock!

The sentiment is from Flowering Rainboots and cut with the All That dies. The flower is from Nature's Prints. I added different ribbon and trim. These were so fun to make and I am planning to make a few more!

Here are the blueprints for the box if anyone wants to give it a try! Let us know how it works out for you.

Happy Stamping!

Nature's Prints

 Wednesday, June 1, 2022

It is already June! Summer is just around the corner!

I have a trio of cards today featuring the Nature Prints bundle. The bundle includes the Nature's Prints stamp set and the Natural Prints dies.

My color inspiration came from the Nature's Prints DSP: Gray Granite, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, and Starry Sky.

Card Details:

  • A2 card bases in Starry Sky, Gray Granite and Night of Navy
  • 4" x 5-1/4" in Gray Granite, Starry Sky and Pacific Point; emboss with the Fern 3D EF (love this EF!)
  • The first card I cut the wreath in Pacific Point and the ferns from Gold Foil. I embossed the sentiment in gold on Night of Navy. Add the gold trim from the Simply Elegant. I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.
  • For the other two cards just stamp your choices of images on Basic White in colors you prefer and use the dies to cut them out. I also cut out a few white elements. The sentiments are stamped on Basic White and I cut them out using the scalloped circle from the All That dies. I added Simply Elegant trim and adhered with dimensionals.
  • I finished the cards with a few Classic Matte Dots in white.
It's fun to choose a color palette and then have fun mixing and matching the colors using a bundle. I prefer making multiples of a project. I really like this bundle and am looking forward to using it with a lot of different colors!

Happy Stamping!
