Splendid Autumn

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

Today's card is ultra easy and simply! My style!

I used a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of the Splendid Autumn DSP and adhered it to a Cajun Craze card base. I stamped the sentiment from the Autumn Expressions stampe set in Blackberry Bliss and cut it out using a die from the Stylish Shapes die, added some of that awesome Natural Tones Linen Thread in Cajun Craze and popped the sentiment up on dimensionals. I had some leaves from the Autumn Leaves dies in Distressed Gold foil that I added along with a few of the Faux Glass Dots which you really can't see. I might should have used a different color or something brighter.

Easy peasy but I like it that way sometimes!

Best.Friend.Ever.

 Monday, August 26, 2024

So last night I had this on my work station:

I'm making a few bags...I'll share more about them in a later blog post. But I have all those left over strips of the Perennial Lavendar DSP  that are 1-1/2" x 12". When I saw the Freshly Made Sketches sketch I was inspired.

I just had to flip the sketch in order to use my DSP in the right orientation.

I adhered my 1-1/2" x  3-7/8" strips of DSP to a 4" x 4-3/4" piece of Crumb Cake and adhere that to a Lost Lagoon card base. I cut the greenery and flowers with the Painted Lavender dies using Pretty Peacock and Fresh Freesia cardstock. My flower pot and sentiment are from the Country Flowers stamp set. I finished it with a few of the Tinsel Gems Three-pack.

I am just squeaking this one in since the challenge ends today in a few hours!

Grateful for You

 Monday, August 26, 2024

It's hard to believe a year ago today we were having my DIL's mother's Celebration of Life. I sure miss Jamie. Grandma Jamie to our granddaughter, Autumn. And, oh my! How Autumn has grown this past year! She was 6 months old when Grandma Jamie died.

And now she is 18 months old and getting her craft on using sidewalk chalk! Life continues on and we will share with Autumn the stories and love of her Grandma Jamie.

Now, on to today's card!

So...I got the Spendid Autumn Suite Collection from the upcoming SU! Mini Catalog.  I'm not gonna lie I wasn't sure what to do with the frame-thing die in this set. I cut this one out of gold foil. I had to use that chain. I don't know if I should have added that hook-thing or not. They show it in the catalog like this. Anywho, this is what I did for the first go at it. I love the DSP. I used that back of one of them and stamped the wheat image onto it. I also love the ribbon, Wild Wheat! 😅 I like the Faux Glass Dots and the Woven Golden Leaves. I love the sentiments in the stamp set. I may never use the chain and hook-thing again but the label dies are nice.

Monthly Wanderings

 Sunday, August 25, 2024

This month we went to a campground not too far from home. It is about an hour and a half away. We had never been there before. We had a really good week! The weather was perfect and we took our dog, Jake. Jake loved laying in the fire pit. No kidding.

We hiked to some beautiful waterfalls. I would love to see them in the spring when there is more water running. I bet they would be stunning.

We saw a covered bridge.

And I even did some stamping!

Today's Your Day

 Thursday, August 15, 2024

I hope everyone's week is going well! Today's card uses a sketch I have been having so much fun with. I made multiple cards using this sketch but unfortunately did not get photos of the others because my DIL needed some thank you cards and I handed them off to her!

I made this one into a fun birthday card using the stamp set, Ride With Me. I colored that cute litte truck with Pecan Pie and Pretty Peacock Blends and added the bouquet of balloons to the back. The DSP is from the fabulous Country Woods. ❤❤❤

We celebrated Steven's birthday earlier this week. I tried to get a photo of him and Paisley with the little gift I gave him...it's for the new baby boy they are expecting in December. It says, "Little Brother" on the front. Paisley was being silly, of course!

Enjoy

 Monday, August 12, 2024

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. After having Autumn on Friday and most of Saturday yesterday was definitely a day of rest...after trying to keep Autumn occupied in church! She is busy at 18 months!

Today's project came together using some scraps of DSP that were lying on my desk.

I have this thing about wanting to use up every piece of DSP I have!  I'm sure I have enough for the rest of my life! LOL! I don't know what the name of this paper is but I have adhered these strips to a Bermuda Bay (retired) cardbase. I have a stitched Bermuda Bay circle and a Spotlight on Nature black circle. My tea cup, from Cup of Tea, was one that was stashed in a stash! I filled it with some greenery and flowers from the same set along with the 'enjoy' tag. It's so fun using up things! Don't you think?!

Sketched Butterflies #4

 Sunday, August 11, 2024

The final project I made with the Sketched Butterflies bundle is this one:

A little treat holder. I used Moody Mauve cardstock and stamped the butterflies with Moody Mauve ink. I added some black spotty dots with marker. The gold foil paper is from Nature's Sweetness. I used the same butterfly center I made here.  I realized as I was finishing this my ideas for the Sketched Butterflies came from Julie Gilson at Stampin' Gala. You can see her awesome projects here.

We had Autumn for a sleepover Friday night. She did great.

I was one tired Gigi!

Sketched Butterflies #3

 Friday, August 9, 2024

Another butterfly card using the Sketched Butterflies bundle!

I used that lovely Wild Wheat cardstock for my card base. 😄 Not everyone thinks it's lovely but I'm okay with it. I stamped the butterflies onto the card base using Wild Wheat ink. I added a strip of the Wildly Flowering DSP to a piece of Moody Mauve cardstock. Both were strips I had left over from other projects I made which I'll be sharing in the days ahead. 😉 Got to use those pieces up, right?!

But the star of the card is the beautiful gold embossed butterfly! I embossed it on Basic White and watercolored it with Moody Mauve. I popped it up on dimensionals and adhered it to a Spotlight on Nature die layered over a gold foil circle. The ribbon is "Sweet Sorbet" metallic woven ribbon. I'm sorry this color isn't even close to Sweet Sorbet which is red! But it worked great with my butterfly! I added a touch of gold thread.

Here's our Sweet P having some summer fun with her other grandparents! ❤❤❤

Sketched Butterflies #2

 Wednesday, August 7,  2024

Today's card and the rest of this week's projects feature the Sketched Butterflies bundle. I am loving this bundle of butterflies! They make me happy.

I made two with a few changes. Here are the card details:

  • A2 card base in Moody Mauve
  • Layer #1 Early Espresso 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" Adhere to card base
  • Layer #2 Basic White 3-1/3 x 4-3/8"
  • Layer #3 Wildly Flowering DSP 3 x 4-1/4" Adhere to Basic White. Wrap ribbon around this and tie bow. Adhere to Early Espresso with dimensionals.
  • Layer #4 Foil 2-3/8" x 3-5/8"  I used Silver and another piece with texture that was in my stash.  Cut using the Deckled Rectangle die that's about this size.
  • Layer #5 Basic White 1-7/8 x 3-1/4" Cut using the Deckled Rectangle die that's about this size. Adhere to foil piece. Add to card base with dimensionals
  • Using Fluid 100 watercolor paper emboss the butterflies using silver embossing powder. Using the Aqua Painters color with Moody Mauve and Daffodil Delight or Wild Wheat.  Adhere to panel using dimensionals. Add a Rhinestone to the center of each butterfly.
It's a day of reflection here. My brother died six years ago today. I've chosen to remember the fun times we had as kids growing up. Camping, fishing, playing. I'm sure I will see him again when we're all reunited in Heaven.  Until then...
I'll always want just one more day
For me to say,
"I love you, Brother,"
and for you to say,
"I love you too, Sis."

Happy Stamping.

Sketched Butterflies

 Monday, August 5, 2024

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Today's card is one I made last month at our monthly craft day. I did not design this card but of course I altered it because crafty girls do what they want! My upline, Teresa Harper at KnT Designs, did the designing and sharing of this make-n-take. Check out her creations! I don't think she shared this one on her blog though.

The card uses one of the sketches in the SU! '24-''25 Annual Catalog on page 22. Maybe the 6th one? It was designed to go vertically but I didn't use the Zinnia EF correctly so I made my card horizontal. LOL!

Card details:

  • Lost Lagoon card base
  • Pretty Peacock layer embossed with Zinnia EF
  • Perennial Lavender DSP...I love this DSP!
  • Sketched Butterflies Bundle
  • Spotlight on Nature Dies...I love these dies!
  • Stylish Shapes Dies...these dies are a must have, don't you think? I use them often!
  • So Sincere stamp set (inside sentiment)
  • Circle Sayings stamp set (retired) for the outside sentiment
  • Tinsel Gems Three-Pack

Layering Leaves

 Friday, August 2, 2024

I hope your August is off to a great start!

Today's card features the Layering Leaves stamp set and the coordinating Bough punch. I have two cards here and I just changed up the sentiments on them. I used the Countryside Inn DSP.

I love making multiples of cards when I come across ones that I like and that I like to make. I wanted to use up some of that DSP. I wanted to use Boho Blue. They both came together nicely on these cards.
